Fiel Clan House in Dapok

One of the oldest houses in Dapok is owned by the well-known

Mr. Lupe and Julie Fiel.

This is the wedding picture of Lupe and Julie.

This has been the Lupe’s residence since 1930′s in Dapok, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur.
Few years ago, the Fiel Clan reunion was held here.

Kiblawan-Matanao Boundary

This is the boundary that divides the town of Kiblawan and the town of Matanao.
The “bebes” on the river are usually raised by farmers who are owning rice fields.
These little, gentle animals help in decreasing the “golden kohols” that inhabits the ricefields.

Kiblawan is blest with the bounties of nature.
Most of our products are copras and bananas.
Our cyber tour guide,
proudly shows us the boundary of Ihan and San Jose.
Nindot di ba?

Immaculate Conception Parish

Kiblawan’s parish is named Immaculate Conception Parish.
Beside the parish is the Holy Cross of Kiblawan.
Our patronal fiesta is December 8.

Waterfalls of San Jose

Unknown to many of us who spent much of our lives in Kiblawan,
going to the highlands is one of the most rewarding experiences.
It will truly make you proud and appreciate the beauty of our yutang natawhan.
There are many waterfalls in Balasiao and Abnate.
This small waterfall is taken in San Jose.

Mutya ng Kiblawan 2009

Master Click Digital Studio, the first and only mobile studio in Mindanao posted in their blog the Mutya ng Davao del Sur 2009, and our representative was captured in their lens. More pictures here.

Parish Convent of Kiblawan

If you have been away from Kiblawan for a long time, you will be surprised to see the parish convento. It is more beautiful now. The parish office has become more organized. The main door is no longer at the side of the parish Church. Sa atubangan na jud. Tiles na pod ang taas.

Nobody, Nobody But You sa Kiblawan

Hep, Hep, Hurray sa Kiblawan

Kiblawan Cemetery

It might give us a creepy feeling seeing this picture in this blog,
but don’t you ever forget that our departed kib-abayans peacefully rest in this spot.
This place experienced traffic only once a year --
that is, during November 2.

Oopppps, Checkpoint

This is where we often meet!
This is the checkpoint.
At its side is the Dura-Tibas store.
Tan-awa, ang mga tawo sa picture, naghulat na sa jeep nga alas puno molarga.

Poblacion Covered Court

Before the municipal gym was built, the Matas Park served as the official venue for basketball leagues, sports tournaments, beauty contests, and even disco nga buntagay!
Kahinumdum pa mo nga kung manisco ta, manglusot ra ta sa sako? Hahaha.

Serapion C. Basalo

SCBMFC – stands for Serapion C. Basalo Memorial Foundation College.
One of the colleges in our dear town.

Holy Cross of Kiblawan

This is where many Kiblawenyos and Kiblawenyas build their dreams.

SMI, Kimlawis

I am pretty sure that very few Kiblawenyos reached the hinterlands of Kimlawis. Lately, a foreign-backed Sagittarius Mines Inc. (SMI) operated in that part of our town.

Environmentalists criticized its presence in our town. Apprehensions and anxiety were also felt among indigenous and rural communities. In the SMI website, however, it says that they were geared toward community infrastructure support. They single out that in Kimlawis, SMI supported the construction of a hanging footbridge to ensure the safety of the community members and project workers when crossing the Mal River.

Market! Market!

Kaila Pa Ba Ka?

Indeed, there are many changes in our dear town. Mao na jud ni ang highway sa atong palengke karon. Atbang ni sa ilang Calma. The other one is atbang sa bakery ni Maggie Fiel. Glad to see tricycles in our town. Haha, I miss riding one

Gunit Jud sa Tricycle Day!

The Kiblawan Central School

This is where Poblacion’s youngsters go. It cannot be denied also that the Central School improved tremendously. Concreto na jud ang building. During the early 90′s, dako pa kaayo ang front ground anang Central. Diha pa tanan nga mga pupils mag-flag ceremony. This school is indeed widening.

The New Kiblawan Municipal Hall

Yes, this is how our municipal hall looks like this year 2010. I grew up visiting our municipyo often since my mother works with Mrs. Anita Calope. But looking at the picture, dako na jud ang kalahian. Yesterday’s municipal hall is made of wood, today is very much concrete. Like any of our kib-abayans, we hope more progress with the new municipal administration.

San Pedro River, A Sight to Behold

If you go southbound from the Poblacion, the barrio of San Pedro will be your first stop. This barrio is a haven of sugarcane and coconuts. Aside from the products it boasts of, hardly unnoticed is the humble and serene sight of the San Pedro River. From the centro which is located on a higher scale, you will go down and this beautiful river welcomes you as you continue your travel to the next barangay -- which is Dapok.
