I am pretty sure that very few Kiblawenyos reached the hinterlands of Kimlawis. Lately, a foreign-backed Sagittarius Mines Inc. (SMI) operated in that part of our town.
Environmentalists criticized its presence in our town. Apprehensions and anxiety were also felt among indigenous and rural communities. In the SMI website, however, it says that they were geared toward community infrastructure support. They single out that in Kimlawis, SMI supported the construction of a hanging footbridge to ensure the safety of the community members and project workers when crossing the Mal River.
